I can feel a passion

in the darkness.

A soft presence

of mind,

and heart,

floating with the perceivable air.

Made tangible through

abandoning its transparent nature.

Where in the absence of illumination,

a different seeing is contained.

Making closed eyes

and open ones

indistinguishable in their gifts.

Allowing seeing,

only escapable through

bodily absence,

to be experienced.

Yet we take this gift

for granted.

Choosing any form but

this unwavering universality.

When the time is upon us,

knowing millions are covered

in the same shadow,

and millions more will be there soon,

take time,

and be still,

for the night gives new life

by holding our attention

inside the blanket of being.
